WEIGHT TRAINING - KICK START YOUR METABOLISM

Using weights and resistance training is a must and couldn't be more important as part of your routine.

Tone up. To increase your metabolic rate (the rate at which your body burns calories) in the long term, you have to add muscle .Two weight training sessions a week is recommended to achieve this. The increased muscle tone you develop as a result makes your body burn more calories everyday even on the days you’re not training.

The science behind this is simple. When we push or lift a weight our muscles are put under strain. After fatiguing they then go into repair stage growing stronger and tighter.

What we are achieving is improved shape and overall tightness of the whole body, especially those loose fatty areas.

So it is vital that the client is shown the correct exercises in order to help keep their body toned and fat free.

The chart alongside shows body fat (blue) and muscle tissue (grey).

The first chart shows a person inactive, with poor fat to muscle ratio. Fat being too high and muscle too low.

The second chart shows what would happen with regular exercise combined with enough weight training. Therefore showing improved muscle tissue and keeping fat to a minimum.
